1 The Coffee Shop
It was pouring outside the campus café. You were soaked, curls plastered to your forehead, trying to shake rain off your hoodie. I offered you the other half of my table because every seat was taken.
We talked for four hours. When the rain stopped you walked me home even though it was the opposite direction. At my door you tucked a wet curl behind my ear and said, “Can I see you tomorrow?” I answered by kissing you right there on the porch steps.
2 First Kiss in the Rain
We didn’t make it home that night. Halfway across the park the sky opened again. Instead of running for cover you pulled me close, laughing, and kissed me while rain poured down on us. Your mouth was warm, hands cold on my waist, and I swear the world went silent except for our breathing.
We ended up under the gazebo, soaked to the bone, making out like the universe had invented kissing just for us. When we finally broke apart you rested his forehead on mine and whispered, “I think I’m already in love with you.” I answered, “Good. Because I know I am.”
3 Your Attic Room
Your apartment was a tiny attic with slanted ceilings and fairy lights. The first time I stayed over we didn’t sleep at all. We kissed until our lips were swollen, touched until we were shaking, and when we finally made love it was clumsy and perfect and so full of feeling I cried.
You kissed every tear and said, “I’ve got you, Noelle. Always.”
4 Slow Undressing
We learned each other like a new language. The way you gasped when I kissed just below your ear. How you liked my hair wrapped around your fist when I went down on you. The little hitch in your breath right before you came.
We spent whole weekends naked, ordering pizza between rounds, falling asleep tangled, waking up to do it all again.
5 Sunday Morning Light
Golden light through your skylight, white sheets, your head between my thighs while I tried (and failed) to stay quiet. When I came you crawled up my body, kissed me so I could taste myself, and slid inside me slow and deep.
We moved like we had all the time in the world — because that morning, we did.
6 The Library Stacks
We couldn’t keep our hands off each other. One night in the back of the university library you pressed me against the shelves, hand over my mouth, fingers inside me while I bit your palm to stay quiet. I came so hard my legs gave out.
You caught me, laughing silently, eyes shining with the same wild love I felt.
7 Snowed In
December blizzard. Campus shut down for three days. We never left your bed except to make hot chocolate (and once to fuck against the frozen window while snow fell outside).
You traced “I love you” on my bare back with your tongue. I wrote it on your chest with melted marshmallow and licked it off.
8 Always
Four years later we’re still together. Still steal kisses in grocery aisles. Still can’t sleep without touching.
Every anniversary we go back to that coffee shop, sit at the same table, and order two hot chocolates with extra whipped cream — just like the first day.
You still take my breath away.
I’m still stupidly, beautifully,
completely in love with you.
Thank you for choosing me
every single day.
